I was fairly groggy from a lack of sleep but Alun had been to a lot of trouble and prepared us a list of possible points of interest.
Breakfast was very good - homemade bread, their own chicken eggs and good quality bacon.
We decided to go on the Brecon Mountain Railway.
We just missed the 10:30 trip so waited around until 12.30 for the next chance.
Very impressive scenery and all the other passengers were friendly and chatty.
After this we decided to visit the gardens at castle Craig Y Nos. The gardens of the castle itself were not very expansive but I believe that the majority had been donated to the National Parks Authority.
We had a pleasant stroll, fed the ducks in one of the ponds and looked around the woodlands. I wouldn't call it a garden though - more a park.
I had booked us in for a meal at the castle at 6.30 pm.
This was excellent - not large serves (as you find at the pubs) but small enough to indulge in starters, main and dessert.
The trip back was a bit traumatic - a critical junction had been closed down for repairs and we had to follow the diversions.
We went round and round in circles, in the dark, ended up having to take a 15 mile diversion and arrived home two hours late.
After a quiet beer in our room I felt a lot better.
I slept on the couch down in the lounge room and let Linda have the entire bed.
We both slept a lot better as a consequence.
