Looks like the hallway joists is going to be a never ending job.
I'm still not finished today.
I was up at 5.00 and ready to leave at 6.00 am but it was such a cold, dark, miserable day that I took an extra 1 hour nap and arrived on site at 8.00 am.
Then I made coffee and read the paper before starting work at 8.30.
At least by then there was a little sunshine and the day was starting to warm up a little.
I continued on with the joists across the hallway between the two wet area.
The first one was tricker than I expected and probably took about 2 hours.
After this, they became progressively easier and I managed to install 7 all up.
This took me to the structural steel spanning the open plan area.
These are quite straight forward and the ten joists should go in quickly next weekend.
The only problem is that there is a difference of 5mm in height at the transistion between the hallway stud frames and the structural steel.
Possibly the structural pine has expanded slightly in the wet weather.
However, what I will do is make a transistion in height over 6 purlins - this is a set that I have already installed on either side of the hallway at the back of the house.
So next weekend I will need to take time out to bolt some of the joists a little higher on their cleats.
I will need to unbolt them, used a nibbler tool to elongate the drilled holes and then rebolt them.
