I managed to lift the temporary roof, jack a stud frame in to position, fix it off to the previous frame and to the floor and reinstall the roof with cutouts and fillins - all in one day.
Looks like I have finally hit the right rhythm - one weekend creating a stud frame, one weekend installing it.
